“This crisis period will bring a new trend in the market, there will be a beautiful rainbow waiting for us right after the recession,” quoted Mr. Samarjit Mitra, owner of SMA consulting services established in 1991. Recently we had an interview with this eminent personality with wide experience in project structuring, identification, and finance. The interview was taken by Mr. Arijit Bhattacharyya, founder of Virtualinfocom, one of the oldest game development company in India. Mr. Mitra was talking about the trends of future industries that possibly have the potential of becoming mega giants in today’s world. He believes that proper skill sets and policies are needed to operate large industries. He also explains his points with the reference of the Spanish Flue pandemic in 1918. “ Each pandemic is more than a war. This pandemic has brought down global trade and integration across the world. The utilization of people or manpower is also under question at this moment” quoted by this eminent speaker while talking about this pandemic situation.
Airlines and aviation, casinos and gaming parlors, auto parts and equipment, oil and gas drilling, leisure facilities including hotels, resorts, travels, etc are the main five industries that are affected due to the heavy jolt of COVID, added Mr. Mitra. “This pandemic has caused hindrance in providing resources to industries. But we need to remember that, this lockdown is a temporary phase. COVID 19 will stay for long and this can inspire us to start changing the existing rules. The rules have tol change pretty fast” quoted Mr. Mitra. Every quote of this eminent speaker with diverse knowledge emerges his optimistic viewpoint about the post-pandemic scenario. According to him, “general people, who are not specialized, become unemployed. The bottom of the pyramid is moving into unemployed segment.” For Mr. Mitra, every crisis will bring some new opportunities and that’s why everyone loves a good crisis.
Mr. Mitra insists on the sustainability of the industry rather than upgradation. “Industry should learn to make the elephant dance. The process of working will be faster and the patience level of industries is bound to come down. We have to produce the result fast. We can not wait for indefinite time for results anymore. Compromising on the quality of materials or services will not be tolerated by the market” said Mr. Mitra while talking about the improvement of the system in post COVID. According to Mr. Mitra, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), service industry including remote banking, smaller and medium services, software, education and sports, smart hospitals are the main areas of business that will flourish in the post-pandemic crisis. “ the world has to upgrade and move to the new normal and this can bring success. Creative and innovative ideas of the Indian business ecosystem will help India to play an important role in international business even after this pandemic. Indian should be proud of it’s innovative and creative business ideas. New opportunities will come and we should be prepared to grab those amazing opportunities” Mr. Mitra concluded.
In this hard situation, everyone needs to come together to help each other. In the industrial world, people need to collaborate and grow together otherwise we lost in the clouds. This is a challenging time for the whole nation. Disruption will be stuck in every step too. According to CMI 1.19 crores of people in the organized sectors have lost jobs in this situation. Newspapers and news channels are started retrenching people. We all are depressed and scared to think about our future. But every fall is followed by a new bloom. So this crisis definitely brought a new morning for us. We have to stay positive cause history said that every pandemic will come up with new opportunities. A new morning full of new chances is waiting for us and we should be ready to grab those chances.
