Dr. Amit received Ph.D. degree in Semiconductor Technology from Energy Research Unit, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (D.S.T., Govt. of India). He joined the Advanced Device Research Division, Research Institute of Electronics, Shizuoka University, National University Corporation, Japan as a Scientific Researcher and was also part of the Innovative Photonics Evolution Research Center at Hamamatsu, Japan. He later joined the Microelectronic Technologies & Devices, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the prestigious National University of Singapore, as Scientist.
Amit has extensively worked on high vacuum plasma CVD reactors, which are heavily used in industrial manufacturing of solar cells, coatings and TFTs. He also developed low cost high vacuum MW-PECVD unit and has conceived the process for cost effective commercial grade antireflection coatings (ARC) synthesis for solar cells by Nanocrytalline diamonds.
His current work is on Terahertz technology, including THz devices (sensors and sources) design, fabrication, aiming at surveillance, inspection, biomedical imaging and deep space exploration applications. Amit has co-authored several scientific papers, presented in several international conferences as plenary and keynote speakers, received several awards including Young Physicist Award and honorary life-membership from Indian Physical Society, Award by the Metrology Society of India (MSI), Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Award by Dept. of Atomic Energy (D.A.E.), his work on diamond ARC, was also awarded and featured as a Key Scientific Article contributing to excellence in engineering, scientific and industrial research, by Advances in Engineering, USA.
Amit also worked as a scientist, under the India-Taiwan Programme of Cooperation in Science & Technology, at the Center for Condensed Matter Sciences (C.C.M.S.), National Taiwan University (N.T.U.), Taipei, Taiwan. Currently Amit is member of many International Advisory Boards, Technical Program Committees in various countries, acted as Panel Editor, Reviewer for reputed journals and scientific book volumes;
He is member of Japan Society of Applied Physics, Indian Physical Society, External Scientific Adviser on Bioelectronics and Biomedical Technologies to Ocuro Science (biomedical startup), Adviser and Lead Contributor on Semiconductor Devices and Process Technologies to Entrepreneur Development Global Ecosystem (EDGE196), Adviser and core member of R & D Cell and International Relations & Outreach for Sister Nivedita University (SNU) and Techno-India Group, Adviser to Brainware University, Kingston Educational Institute, Adviser and visiting faculty in NSHM Faculty of Engineering & Technology, among others. Alongside the pursuit of high research and administrative ambitions, Amit is keenly engaged in consulting futuristic technologies for business firms, educational ventures and universities.
